The typical stock exhaust system suffers from all three of these power robbing “backpressure” symptoms at different degrees. Now it’s not that the manufacturer did anything wrong... in their attempt to “average out” the performance over the widest range of driving conditions, road altitudes, and driving styles, they made certain compromises. Then the simple economics of keeping manufacturing cost low contributed to other performance reducing considerations in the design and manufacturing process.
